Grand Seiko Launches Two New Heritage 62GS 30mm Watches, STGK031 and STGK033
A More Compact Version of the 62GS Inspired by Early Spring Cherry Blossoms
Founded in 1960, Grand Seiko is renowned for its craftsmanship and unique design philosophy. The Heritage Collection 62GS pays homage to the brand’s first automatic watch launched in 1967, which featured a bezel-less construction for improved readability.
Grand Seiko expands the 62GS family with the STGK031 and STGK033, two new 30mm mechanical watches inspired by the fleeting beauty of early spring cherry blossoms in northern Japan. Unlike the previous women’s models, which featured a cushion-shaped case, these watches feature the classic 62GS case design first seen in the men’s models.
Each stainless steel case measures 30mm in diameter and 10.5mm thick, and features Grand Seiko’s signature Zaratsu polishing to a perfect mirror finish. The seamless design merges the curved case sides with the sapphire crystal and transparent caseback.
The dials reflect the changing seasons in Japan with intricate textures and subtle tones. The STGK031 features a pink dial inspired by the “sakura twilight”, a phenomenon in which cherry blossoms are still faintly visible under the snow in early spring. Meanwhile, the STGK033 features a silver patterned dial reminiscent of the “sakura moonlit night”, when cherry blossoms bloom with an ethereal glow under the misty moonlight. Both dials retain Grand Seiko’s signature design elements, including sword-shaped hands and faceted hour markers for excellent readability, and both feature a date window at 3 o’clock.
Powering these watches is Grand Seiko’s smallest automatic movement, Caliber 9S27, which is just 4.49 mm thick. It runs at 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and offers a 50-hour power reserve.
