Cisco Products – Still the Benchmark for Enterprise Networking in 2025?

I’ve been in IT for a little over a decade, and throughout that time, Cisco Products have always been seen as the gold standard for networking. Whether it’s enterprise-level switches, routers, firewalls, or collaboration tools, Cisco has consistently been the vendor most organizations look to when stability and reliability matter most. Recently though, I’ve noticed more discussions around alternative vendors like Aruba, Juniper, and even newer cloud-focused solutions that claim to be lighter, cheaper, and easier to manage.

What I’m trying to understand is whether Cisco Products are still the most reliable option in 2025, given the rapid changes in IT infrastructure. Their hardware is undeniably solid, but the Cisco ecosystem often comes with a higher price tag and requires skilled professionals who can handle configurations, licensing, and ongoing support. Some argue that you “pay more, but you get more” in terms of performance, advanced features, and long-term stability. Others say competitors now provide nearly the same reliability at a fraction of the cost.

For those of you managing medium to large-scale networks, what’s your take? Are Cisco Products still your go-to solution for switches, firewalls, and collaboration, or have you started adopting other vendors? Do you feel the premium is worth it in terms of uptime, security, and scalability? I’m particularly interested in hearing from businesses that are in the process of upgrading or migrating infrastructure right now. Are Cisco Products still at the center of your IT strategy in 2025?
